Final stop-- Natural Bridge

Another landmark we can check off our list! Pretty amazing!

George Washington carved his name in the rock! See it??? It is marked with the yellow box!

We of course went and drop over the bridge after our hike!

Conner and Kaitlyn were bringing up the rear on our hike. I received a text ....it was from Conner! He sent me this picture below! Love him!

The girls enjoyed exploring the Monocan Village! K was giving them a lesson!

We headed home after this stop! What a great trip! So thankful God has made these fun days possible!

Next stop-- Appomattox Courthouse

The McLean House! This is where the Civil War "ended". Lee surrenders to Grant! The North won the war! Slavery would end!

Kaitlyn is trying to get the girls to come to her for a picture!

The whole area was so pretty. The sun was starting to set so the lighting was perfect! The girls and I found this cool barn while the others were touring the house and other buildings here!

I yelled for K and C to come over and it was pointless....this is as good as it got! These girls are on the move and don't want to hold still for no silly picture no matter how perfect the setting and lighting was!! Oh well!

It was all so beautiful!

It gets so dark so early this time of year! So the next stop was a hotel! :0) We didn't have time to make it to all of our destinations but what a great day we had!

Thomas Jefferson's Monticello

We have been wanting to go here for quite a while! We made it! Weekend rode trip! The kids had learned about Monticello last year so they were excited to see it up close! It is beautiful!

These four made it through the house tour! Corryn started out on the tour but I could tell it wasn't going to work so we explored the under house stuff like the kitchen, privy, slave quarters and lots of running on the grounds! Tim was so proud of Kaia making through the hour tour without a peep in close quarters where she couldn't get down to walk. I think Tim's arms were quite tired after that tour!

Hiking with friends!

The day after Thanksgiving we met up with another family to go creek jumping and hiking! 

I love that our kids know how to really play! They don't need video games or electronics when you have nature and things to explore!

I question whether I should be more cautious with my kids. I sit back and take pics while others get really nervous!

These girls are so good at the slide! I know I make other moms nervous.....

About half of us are looking in the right direction and smiling!

Ms. Averi and Mr. Chris hanging out! We celebrated Thanksgiving with these guys about 5 or 6 years ago up in MA and now here we are doing it again!

Turkey Trot

 This year the entire family ran the Turkey Trot! We got up nice and early to run in the cold! Can you tell how crowded it was? That was fine for me because it was an excuse not to run really fast (not that I need an excuse.....i just can't run fast) however Conner was held up some! He finished at 28 minutes!! I'm impressed! Here is Kaitlyn "running" with me!

 Our friend, Chris, joined us! Tim ran the entire race pushing K and C in the double stroller! Thank goodness I didn't have to do that!

 A bunch of K's friends trotted as well!

 The whole family joined K and her soccer family for a pizza party last night! Fun night for the girls!
